[b][i][color=#800080]HUNGER IN COLUMBIA COUNTY[/color][/i][/b] [b][i]In 2009, 27,485 people ate a meal prepared from an emergency food box. They received this assistance from one of CPFB’s member agencies. All who qualify for emergency assistance are within 130% of the federal poverty level. Included in this number were:[/i][/b]
- [b][i]children under the age of 18[/i][/b]
- [b][i]people who are vulnerable, including seniors and the disabled[/i][/b]
- [b][i]working people whose income is not sufficient enough to cover the basic necessities[/i][/b]
- [b][i]the unemployed-almost 13% (and growing) in Columbia County[/i][/b]
